Thank you! Thank you for bringing your teens to Soul Quest ‘14. At York College we try to be the best hosts we can be…but you - you are what makes Soul Quest a great camp. We have included a few items that will help you prepare your group for camp.
Here is what to do, step by step.
Download forms – Download the registration form and medical release form. Make a copy for everyone in your group. Have each camper fill them out, have them signed and back to you in time for the June 1st “Early Bird Rate” deadline.
Mail in Forms for Group – In one packet, mail in all Registration forms, Medical Release forms and a Group Rooming form. Also include the full camp fee for each camper you are registering. Have parents make all checks payable to York College.
Review Camp Rules – Please take time before you come to Soul Quest to review the camp policies on attire, electronic devices and cell phones and expected behavior. Help us prevent problems before they happen.
Staff Applications – If you are coming to camp for the entire week of camp please download, fill out and mail (or email) a Staff Application form. If you have been invited to be a part of the teaching, counseling, canteen or nursing staff, you will be provided a place to stay on campus and your meals will be provided free of charge. Please fill out a Staff Application by May 1st and send it to Tim Lewis at the Soul Quest mailing address.
If you are a sponsor that is coming to camp, but you are not part of the teaching, counseling, canteen or nursing staff, then you need to know that you are very welcomed at Soul Quest. There is no registration fee for you and we will have a few places for support staff to sleep on campus. However, this space is limited and is available on a first come, first served basis. Also, we cannot confirm how much extra space will be available to us until June 1st. If we cannot provide space, it may be necessary for you to find motel accommodations here in York. Also, if you will be eating with us at camp we ask that you purchase a meal wristband at the beginning of camp. Meal wristbands will be $75 each. Please fill out a Staff Application and send it to Tim Lewis at the Soul Quest mailing address.
Group Rooming Forms – One of the important parts of the registration process is placing campers in a positive rooming situation. As your group’s sponsor we are asking you to help us accomplish that goal. We will be asking you to tell us how you want your campers to be housed. Here are our some important things to remember:
Changes – Do everything possible to avoid last minute changes at registration. Last minute changes to housing arrangements are what slow down the registration line. Take time to fill out the Group Rooming Form in a way that will place each student in a situation where they will be happy. Make sure they are OK with the arrangements before you send in the form. And remember, middle school students must room with middle school students and high school students room with high school students.
Grades – High school students are classified as the classes of 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Middle school students are classified as classed of 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Maturity – Sponsors, please make sure every camper you bring to Soul Quest is emotionally mature enough for camp. This is especially important in our younger campers. They will have a better experience at camp if they are ready for it, not just old enough for it.
Special Needs Campers – If you are bringing a camper with special physical needs, we ask you to make all the arrangements to meet that need. SQ is a group of volunteers that are, many times, not equipped to deal with special needs situations. Please work with us to make sure each camper is safe at all times.
