This weekend will see lots of extra activity and visitors on the York College campus for Spring High School Days.
High School Days is a showcase weekend, where prospective students and their parents have an opportunity to see what York College has to offer, such as athletic and arts events, as well as campus tours and classroom visits.
Prospective students who wish to attend High School Days can register with the admissions office.
The main event of the weekend will be Songfest, a high-energy musical revue, featuring the performances of a quarter of the student body.
Songfest will be performed at 7 p.m., Thursday through Saturday in the Campbell Activity Center. Tickets can be purchased at the door starting at 6:00 each night.
On Friday, Director of Financial Aid Brien Alley will host a free workshop called “How to Pay for College.” This seminar will be useful to anyone with a college-age child who would like help navigating the sometimes-confusing world of financial aid. The workshop will be presented at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Miller Room of the Mackey Center and is open to anyone, not just those planning to send students to York College.
The York College Traveling Children’s Theatre will perform Jack and the Beanstalk in Gurganus Hall at 11 a.m. on Saturday. This show is appropriate for all ages and is free to attend. The York College Concert Choir will also perform a free concert on Saturday, at 1 p.m. at the East Hill Church of Christ, located at 12th and Delaware.
On Friday and Saturday, prospective students will have the chance to visit with coaches and try out for different athletic teams and campus organizations.
Saturday morning, parents and grandparents of current and prospective students are invited to attend a devotional at 9 a.m. in the Prayer Chapel. President Steve Eckman speak at the devotional, which will be followed by a free brunch in the Miller Room on the second floor of the Mackey Center.
The brunch will include time to meet with senior administrators as well as win door prizes. Those who plan to attend should make reservations at firstname.lastname@example.org or 363-5664.
